About

About Me: Who is Sarah Mullin?

I'm Sarah - a 56-year-old special education teacher who has found her calling working with the students others often find too challenging. My heart will always belong to significantly impacted learners who need someone to believe in them.

Teaching has always been ministry for me. Colossians 3:23 says "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord" - and that's how I approach every student, every lesson, every resource I create. Because kids aren't data points or reading levels. They're image-bearers of God who deserve someone to see them, believe in them, and work with their whole heart to help them succeed.

My Journey to Pennsylvania

In August 2024, my husband Kevin and I made a cross-country move from Idaho to Pennsylvania when his engineering firm, Brown & Caldwell, asked him to oversee the Tobyhanna water treatment center. It was a leap of faith - we sold our 3,000 square foot house, bought a 5th wheel RV we named Hestia (after the goddess of home and hearth), and now live in 350 square feet parked in our barn on 4 gorgeous acres in Moscow, PA.

The move meant leaving behind the grandkids we adore most - Riley and Tiffany's four boys (Josiah, Jacob, Jedidiah, and Jonathan) who we miss desperately. But wherever Kevin goes, I want to go. After my breast cancer diagnosis in 2020 and subsequent recovery, I realized that being together matters more than square footage or staying put.

Love and Family

Kevin and I married in 2004, bringing together a beautifully messy blended family. We each brought children from previous marriages, and blending families is never easy - but we walked that difficult road together.
Kevin is my partner in the truest sense - sensitive and emotionally present. We're active in our church where I play violin on the worship team and we serve together in Bible study. We also have two horses (Zephyr and Gale), chickens, cats, and our Border Collie Aspen who trots along on our trail rides through Promised Land State Park.

What Drives My Heart

Growing up as the third of eight children taught me something profound: every child deserves to be seen, valued, and treated with dignity - especially those who can't advocate for themselves.

That's why I pour my heart into special education. I work with nonverbal and minimally verbal students, kids with autism and complex behavioral needs, learners who are significantly below grade level. These are the students other teachers sometimes fear or avoid. But I see them. I see their potential, their humanity, their right to meaningful education.

I'm building a business creating differentiated curriculum for this underserved population through Teachers Pay Teachers. Each resource is carefully crafted to meet students at their level while maintaining their dignity. I spend about 20 hours a week on this work because these resources are desperately needed, and creating them feeds my soul.

Faith and Philosophy

I'm a Christian who believes in the power of positivity and words of affirmation. I believe in being a good person and making the world better. My work with challenging students is a ministry. Sacred music and hymns speak to my soul in ways contemporary worship never will. I believe everyone deserves respect, patience, and the benefit of the doubt.

That's who I am. That's what drives my heart.
